The School of International Futures (SOIF) is delighted to welcome leading British futurist Andrew Curry, who joins the team as a Director in June 2019. He brings to the business a wealth of futures expertise and a track record of thought-leadership in the field, having worked as a futurist for 20 years. This appointment further strengthens the SOIF team as we continue to grow our business and pursue our mission to make foresight integral to global policy-making and strategy development.
With projects focused on urgent and current issues including the Future of Terrorism, Intergenerational Fairness, and the Future of Philanthropy, SOIF is helping global leaders answer some of the world’s most pressing questions about the future. As a futures consultant, Andrew has worked with organisations across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, advising clients on everything from the future of water to emerging technologies, economic development, mobility, rail, cities, and the future of work. He led the scenarios development process for the UK Government Office of Science/Foresight project on Intelligent Infrastructure Systems, and developed 100-year scenarios for the Environment Agency. He was also the lead author on the Henley Centre report for the UK Cabinet Office on Understanding Best Practice in Strategic Futures.

“I first met Cat Tully when she was working as a Strategy Director at the FCO a decade ago, as a client on the Horizon Scanning Centre’s project on UK Technology and Innovation Futures. I’ve followed the progress of SOIF with interest since it was set up, and joined its Summer Retreat as Visiting Faculty in 2015. It is one of the most interesting public-focused futures consultancies out there, and I’m looking forward to working with Cat to develop the business.”

Andrew was vice-chair of the Association of Professional Futurists (APF) for five years, and continues to edit its newsletter Compass. He edited its 10th anniversary collection The Future of Futures*, and an APF anthology on futures methods.
Significant publications include:
- Two papers awarded ‘Most Significant Futures Works’ status by the Association of Professional Futurists (APF): one on the futures method ‘Three Horizons’, co-written with Tony Hodgson; and a more recent paper on the relationship between populism, place, and the rise of the service-driven economy.

- A paper on the 21st Century Business (co-written with Jules Peck).
